Welcome on my page!
Artistic reproduction of motion and the temporal nature of things was one of the strongest desires of early humans as evidenced by the cave paintings. The essence of this desire: if one can visualize the prey then one should also be able to catch it. This credo represents the origin of all visual arts to me. Every single movie ever made is a re-creation of illusions, toying with our perception of time and reality. Making films is magic in itself.
I could not tell exactly what makes one a good editor. For me, even after many years of doing it, it's the most exciting thing is to follow how a story is shaping up from its small pieces, no matter whether fiction or documentary. Sometimes editing feels like playing, sometimes it feels more like a conscious construction and this depends on the genre or on the phase of the work. One thing is certain: no matter what genre you are working in or what phase the work is in, spending so many years with editing is possible only if you don't lose your passion for films.
Two years ago due to an accident that happened right in the middle of an editing project, I was confined to my chair for six months. To keep up with my work, I had to install the editing software on my home computer and the entire set of media files were copied onto my hard disk. From that point on I had been working at home and sent the finished sequences back to the director over the Internet. Through the net he could follow where exactly I was with the project. If he did not like something he let me know by e-mail. I learned that remote editing was possible in the absence of other options.
I am not good in praising my achievements; instead this page is a summary of my filmography so you could accurately judge what I can do and can deliver for you as an independent contractor.
Sincerely,
Kati Juhász
